Zachary Finn


Zachary Finn serves as Henriott Group Inc.'s Director of Risk Management and is responsible for client education, industry, vertical risk management solutions and client engagement. Zach's goal is to make sophisticated risk management solutions more accessible and mainstream.

Throughout his career, Zach has worked or consulted for several Fortune 500 Companies, small-large businesses, co-ops, insurance agencies, Lloyds of London Syndicates and more. He has been fortunate to work on risk management issues across several industries, and is an expert in the areas of manufacturing, food and beverage, supply-chain logistics and InsurTech. He has deep experience within many areas of risk management, including insurance, alternative risk financing, captive insurance, supply-chain mapping, business continuity planning, (product recall) crisis preparedness and response, and insurance and risk management due diligence, integration and synergy valuation for mergers and acquisitions.

From 2011-2021, Zach served as a Clinical Professor and the Academic Director of the Davey Risk Management & Insurance (RMI) Program at Butler University. He helped found, and ran, what is now the ninth largest undergraduate RMI program in the U.S. He was also the co-inventor, co-founder, CRO and COO for the world’s first Student-Run Captive Insurance Company, domiciled in Bermuda, and taught at Butler University. He also ran a successful risk management consulting company during his time at Butler and helped advise the U.S. Congress on the creation of model Pandemic Risk Insurance Act legislation to help mitigate the impact to insurance markets from COVID-19.

Prior to Butler University, Zach was Risk Manager for The J.M. Smucker Company in Orrville, Ohio, where he managed the Corporation’s risk management program, including global insurance program design and placement, successfully settling several large claims (largest $17M+) and overseeing insurance due diligence and integration for nine major mergers and acquisitions, including the $3.3 billion acquisition of Folgers Coffee.

Zach has published articles on several topics, including pandemic insurability, Insurtech, product contamination and recall risk, protecting corporate goodwill and brand equity, enterprise risk management and risk management consulting. He received his B.S. in insurance and risk management from Indiana State University, M.S. in risk management and insurance from Florida State University, and the Associate in General Insurance (AINS) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) professional designations from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.
