If you’re going to lock up your funds in a certificate of deposit, you might as well get rewarded for it.
Langley Federal Credit Union is offering a 5-year CD that pays 2.43 percent APY. Savers willing to put away at least $1,000 can earn one of the highest CD yields available nationwide.
Just look at how it compares to other offers. Langley’s deal is eight basis points higher than the best 60-month CDs rates offered by Popular Direct and Synchrony Bank. A basis point is one-hundredth of a percentage point.
Rewards program members who have a loan or credit card from the credit union, receive electronic statements and have an active checking account can earn an extra 0.10 percent annually.

Its low minimum deposit makes Langley’s 5-year CD a great option for new savers. It should also appeal to others looking for long-term CDs that won’t require them to fork over thousands of dollars at once.
Before you buy the CD, calculate how much interest you could earn when it matures.
