At the same time as mortgage rates rose this week in the Chicago metro area, two of its biggest stars were listing their homes for sale. Chicago icon Oprah Winfrey has a home listed for sale, as does her interior designer guru, Nate Berkus.

The benchmark 30-year fixed-rate mortgage in Chicago rose to 4.11 percent from 3.95 percent, according to the national survey of large lenders. The mortgages in this week’s survey had an average total of 0.17 discount and origination points. Nationally, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage was 4.1 percent.

Oprah’s home features amazing views, a solarium, a butler’s pantry and a wine room. Nate’s listing is a Gold Coast condo that he completely renovated while putting his special designer touch to everything. Two amazing Chicago residences for the upscale buyer.

The benchmark 30-year jumbo mortgages, for loans of $625,500 and up, also spiked up this week to 3.95 percent, compared to the previous week’s 3.83 percent. The benchmark 15-year fixed-rate mortgage climbed to 3.31 percent from 3.14 percent. The benchmark 5/1 adjustable-rate mortgage rose to 2.68 percent from 2.48 percent.
