JetBlue enthusiasts can take their loyalty to a new level with the JetBlue Plus Card. For a $99 annual fee, earn a hefty 6 points per $1 spent on JetBlue purchases plus a fat 30,000-point bonus if you spend $1,000 within the first 90 days of opening the account.

Chock-full of value, the JetBlue Plus card is well worth the $99 annual fee, especially if you fly at least a few times a year and want to earn points to use on even more air travel. The sweet sign-up bonus could be enough for a round-trip ticket within the U.S.

This card offers big rewards for those who spend big on JetBlue travel — it pays 6 points for every $1 spent on JetBlue purchases, which includes flights, JetBlue vacation packages and in-flight purchases. You can also earn 2 points for every $1 spent at restaurants and grocery stores and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases.

If your heart and travel plans are likely to be true blue to JetBlue, this card is an awesome addition to your wallet. It has some of the loftiest rewards in its class for spending within its brand and the perks that come with it, like a free checked bag and savings on in-flight purchases are frequent-flier friendly. The one thing it’s missing is airport lounge access, so if that’s important to you, you should pair this with a travel card that offers it.

And because the rewards for other spending are only OK, this probably shouldn’t be the only credit card you carry.

Who should get this card

This card is a good fit for someone who flies a few times a year on JetBlue with at least one checked bag.

  • Generous rewards structure on Jet Blue spending, plus boosted earnings on grocery stores and dining.
  • There’s an introductory 12-month 0% APR offer for balance transfers made within 45 days of opening the account.
  • There are no foreign transaction fees with this card.
  • If you book a JetBlue Vacations package with the card, you’ll get a $100 statement credit. This offer is valid once per calendar year.
  • If you value flexibility in which airline you use, this is not the card for you. JetBlue has very few alliances where points can be transferred.
  • If you only fly once a year on JetBlue, you may be better off with a different card.
  • You need excellent credit to qualify for this card so it may not be attainable for some.

Fees and APR

  • This card has a variable APR of 13.24%, 21.24% or 26.24 based on your creditworthiness.
  • There’s a 0% introductory offer on balance transfers for the first 12 billing cycles made within the first 45 days of opening an account. After that, a variable APR of 13.24%, 21.24% or 26.24 will apply.
  • There’s a $99 annual fee.
  • You’ll pay a balance transfer fee of 3% of the amount being transferred.
  • Late payments won’t affect your APR but a fee of up to $37 may apply.
  • When you make purchases outside the U.S., you won’t be charged a foreign transaction fee.

Extras, perks and using points

On your JetBlue Plus card account anniversary, you’ll be awarded 5,000 bonus points as long as your account is open and in good standing. You’ll also earn 10% of your points back every time you redeem for travel. For example, if you book a 25,000-point award flight, you’ll get 2,500 points as a bonus to use for the next points redemption.

Cardholders receive a 50% discount on in-flight purchases of cocktails, food, movies, pillows and blankets. You and up to three companions on your reservation will each receive your first checked bag free.

You can redeem your points by going online, signing into your account and selecting “Book Travel.” After you select your itinerary, the number of points required will be displayed. There’s no fee for redemption.

This card also provides access to join the JetBlue TrueBlue Dining program, giving you an opportunity to earn 3 miles for every dollar spent dining out, all while having your feet on the ground. There are no award blackout dates for JetBlue flights. Points never expire and can be pooled among family members.
