Bilt — the company behind the rewards program that lets you earn on rent payments — just announced a new Lyft rewards category for Bilt Rewards members. Now, Bilt members earn points on rides taken with the rideshare service.

If you’re a Bilt Mastercard® credit card holder, you can earn up to 5X points on Lyft rides when using the card. Even if you don’t have the Bilt Mastercard, but you use the rewards program for your rent payments, you can link your accounts and earn 2X points on Lyft rides.

Here’s more about the offer and the best ways to use your credit card to save on Lyft rides:

How to earn rewards with the Bilt and Lyft partnership

Bilt is a loyalty program that allows renters to earn on monthly payments. You can use Bilt on your own by joining the program or if you live in a property owned by a member of the Rewards Alliance, which includes more than 2 million rental units across the United States. Once you earn rewards, you can use them toward travel, rent, a down payment on a future home, fitness classes and more.

The Bilt Mastercard, which launched in 2021, sweetens the deal for Bilt members with its ongoing rewards structure that includes points on rent, dining and travel purchases. Plus, there aren’t any transaction or processing fees when you pay rent with the card.

To take advantage of Bilt rewards on Lyft, simply link your Bilt Rewards and Lyft accounts. To get the added points with your Bilt Mastercard, you’ll also need to set Bilt as your “active loyalty rewards partner” and pay with your card.

Other rewards cards to consider

Bilt isn’t the first rewards program or credit card to partner with Lyft. In fact, there are a few great rewards cards today that offer similar rewards on ridesharing. If you’re not already earning rewards with Lyft, here are a few examples of credit cards to consider:

Chase Sapphire Preferred

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card offers 5X points on Lyft purchases (through March 2025), along with rewards on travel purchases, dining, streaming and online grocery purchases. There’s no cap on how many points you can earn. So, if you spend $1,000 on Lyft rides throughout the year, that’s $50 in cash back value.

Chase Sapphire Reserve

The Chase Sapphire Reserve® takes it up a notch with 10X points on Lyft purchases (through March 2025). Following the same $1,000 yearly spending example, that’s $100 in cash rewards value.

Sapphire Reserve cardholders also receive complimentary Lyft Pink membership for 12 months, with activation by March 2025. Lyft Pink (typically $9.99 per month) can get you free priority pickup upgrades, 5 percent off Standard, Lux, Preferred and XL Lyft rides and more.

The Reserve also features a $300 annual travel credit that can be used toward rideshares, flights, hotels and more.

Citi Custom Cash

While the Citi Custom Cash® Card doesn’t directly earn rewards on Lyft rides, you can earn 5 percent cash back on your top spending category each billing cycle (up to $500, then 1 percent).

One of the 10 eligible categories is select transit (which includes car services), meaning you can earn heightened rewards on Lyft spending — worth up to $300 in yearly rewards if you max out the 5 percent category each billing cycle.

Further, the Custom Cash is a World Elite Mastercard, meaning you can get a $5 Lyft credit each month that you take at least three Lyft rides.

The bottom line

If you’re a Bilt Rewards member and use rideshare services, you can get a great value boost on future rideshares with this new Lyft partnership. There’s currently no expiration date on the rewards rate, unlike offers on other top cards for rideshare services, meaning you can expect to earn rewards on Lyft purchases for the foreseeable future.
