Basic-Level program offers discounts averaging from 5 percent to 20 percent and other benefits from 25,000 participating merchants. This program level is complimentary to all eligible MasterCard cardholders. For an annual fee of $29.95, consumers can upgrade to a Premium-Level program with discount offers averaging from 20 percent to 50 percent and other benefits, as well as deeper discounts, limited time offers and invitations to special in-store events. The $29.95 annual fee is waived for all World MasterCard cardholders.

Bankrate.com surveyed the largest banks and thrifts in the top five markets in the country plus the top five credit unions to find out what debit card rewards programs are available and how they work. The survey was taken from Aug. 22 to Sept. 9, 2011.
