Highly competitive yield.
-
Savings program that rounds up debit card purchases.
-
Round-ups are matched, depending on account balances.
-
No monthly fees or minimum balances.
-
You can create multiple buckets for separate savings goals.
Cons
-
ZYNLO checking account required for the round-up feature.
The savings account ZYNLO offers is a suite of tools that empowers customers to save in little and big ways. In addition to a high yield and no monthly fees or minimum balances, customers can set up a round-up feature on debit card purchases made with a ZYNLO checking account. Depending on their average checking balance, ZYNLO may match up to 100% of the rounded up amount.
Pros
-
Solid yields.
-
No minimum opening deposit.
-
No monthly maintenance fees.
Cons
-
Only four term options.
-
No specialty CDs.
ZYNLO has a very basic set of CDs on offer, each with a solid APY. There are only four term options, but those four have no minimum opening deposit requirements or monthly fees. Terms range from six months to two years — in contrast, banks typically have CDs with terms up to five years.
ZYNLO money market account
Pros
-
Competitive yield.
-
No monthly, overdraft or nonsufficient funds fees.
-
Unlimited transactions.
Cons
-
Round-up savings feature is not available.
-
Doesn't come with checks or a debit card.
While ZYNLO's money market account has unlimited transactions, you will need to transact online to make use of that benefit. This is because the account doesn't come with a debit card or check-writing privileges that are common elsewhere.
ZYNLO More Spending Checking
Pros
-
Earns a competitive yield.
-
No fees.
-
Large ATM network.
-
Can be linked to savings account to access round-up feature.
Cons
-
Minimum balance required for full round-up match.
Checking accounts with a yield are not the most common, and with ZYNLO you'll get an exceptional rate. You can also tie your checking account to your ZYNLO savings account and round-up debit card purchases, which ZYNLO will match up to 100% if you maintain an average checking balance of $3,000 — otherwise the match is 0.25%.
Customer experience
Branch access. ZYNLO is an online bank, so there's no branch access. ZYNLO's parent bank, PeoplesBank, does have about 20 locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut but ZYNLO customers can't visit these branches.
Customer support. You can reach customer service by phone Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern, and weekends from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can also send an email or message via the bank's mobile app, though it may take 24 to 48 hours to receive a response via those channels.
Digital experience. You can bank through the bank's secure website or via its mobile app. As of the time of writing, the iOS and Android apps receive middling reviews on both platforms, though fewer than 200 people have rated them (combined).

| There are no monthly fees or minimum balances with a ZYNLO savings account. You'll also get access to a round-up program that puts the change from debit card purchases into it when you link a ZYNLO checking account. On top of having the feature, ZYNLO will match up to 100% of the rounded up amount, depending on your average checking account balance. | Ally Bank consistently offers a strong yield on its Online Savings Account. It’s not usually the absolute highest yield, but it is competitive and there’s no minimum balance requirement and no monthly service fee. The bank offers mobile deposit but you’ll need to transfer money to your checking account or Ally’s money market account if you want to access your savings from an ATM. | |
