Geico

Geico’s coverage is relatively basic, but when it comes to discounts, Geico offers just about any discount you can think of, which could equate to a large amount of savings. With several of Geico’s discounts, it is possible to save anywhere up to 23%-25%. You will likely get the most bang for your buck by using Geico for all of your insurance needs because it offers some great customer loyalty discounts.

MetLife

MetLife reports that its costumes save an average of $562 per year by being insured under MetLife’s auto policy. Additionally, bundling a home and auto policy could save more than $900 on average. Outside of savings, MetLife’s auto insurance policies may be appealing to drivers as it offers a host of extra options such as repair and referral networks and special parts replacement.

The company’s My Journey program is another way MetLife customers can save. The app, which monitors and provides feedback on your driving habits, could allow customers to save up to 25% initially and up to 30% after annual renewal as long as they have a good driving score.

Progressive

Progressive is a nationally recognized insurance provider and for good reason. It has multiple standard and non-standard coverage options and discounts, and offers its services for an affordable price. If you are working with a tight budget, you can even submit your ideal budget to Progressive’s website to view all of your available options within that budget.

Progressive also has a safe driving program called Snapshot. By tracking your driving habits, Progressive may offer you savings for demonstrating good driving habits.

Travelers

Travelers offers a total of 14 discount and savings opportunities to help you save on your car insurance premium. Many of the discounts offer savings upwards of 7%. For instance, if you pay your policy in full, Travelers may offer you up to a 7.5% discount. Taking an approved driving course could save you up to an additional 8%. Travelers also has multiple options for car insurance, including rental and gap insurance.

USAA

USAA is insurance for both active and retired military as well as their family. The company is probably one of the most well-reviewed insurance companies on the market today, as it receives top marks in third-party ratings like in J.D. Power auto studies year after year. However, USAA is not considered rank eligible due to membership restrictions.

USAA does not offer too many discounts, but the ones it does offer are tailor-made for its target audience. For example, if you need to garage your vehicle while deployed, USAA offers a discount to knock up to 60% off your premium.

Cheapest car insurance in Warren

Michigan is currently the fourth most expensive state for both minimum and full coverage. However, Warren on its own would beat out any state for the most expensive coverage. The table below shows how Warren stacks up against the state average in Michigan and the national average for car insurance.

Warren average Michigan average U.S. average
Minimum coverage $1,480 $948 $565
Full coverage $3,346 $2,309 $1,674

Although Warren drivers pay more on average for car insurance than most other places, there are some providers that are more appealing to compare cheap car insurance quotes.

Insurance company Average annual premium for minimum coverage Average annual premium for full coverage
Travelers $111 $1,884
USAA $564 $1,447
MetLife $659 $2,005
Progressive $980 $1,792
Geico $1,087 $2,021

All of the companies above offer great coverage options. Though they are cheaper than the Warren average, it does not reflect a cheap product. When it comes to discounts, USAA falls a bit short when compared to the other providers, but that is largely because it already offers more affordable premiums. App wise, Travelers, Progressive and Geico all offer convenient user experiences.

All of these providers offer options to bundle policies including MetLife, which may offer significant savings in this department.

Warren insurance requirements

Warren drivers are required to have a 50/100/10 minimum coverage policy. Written out, this means:

  • $50,000 per person for bodily injury or death
  • $100,000 per accident for bodily injury or death
  • $10,000 per accident for property damage

Furthermore, because Michigan is a no-fault state, drivers are also required to have personal injury protection (PIP) coverage. There are six options to choose from:

  1. Unlimited coverage
  2. Up to $500,000 in coverage
  3. Up to $250,000 in coverage
  4. Up to $250,000 in coverage with medical exclusion (for drivers whose non-Medicaid insurance covers injuries received in an auto accident)
  5. Up to $50,000 in coverage (for policyholders enrolled in Medicaid, and whose household members have a health insurance or car insurance policy that covers accident-related injuries).
  6. PIP opt-out— for drivers whose health insurance covers accidents received in a car crash and whose deductible is not larger than $6,000

When shopping for car insurance quotes in Warren, most insurance experts strongly recommend purchasing more than minimum coverage. While full coverage could aid in expensing an accident that exceeds minimum coverage limits, it will also likely be required if you plan on financing or leasing a new car purchase. Lenders and dealerships often require full coverage before they even approve the sale.

Car insurance discounts in Warren

Despite Warren’s high cost of car insurance, applying for qualifying discounts are usually an easy way to see savings. Some common ones include:

  • Defensive driving: Many insurers offer good savings for taking an approved driving course.
  • Good student: If you are either a student or including a student driver on your policy, good student discounts are often offered for maintaining a B average or higher.
  • Pay-in-full: Paying your premium upfront is a good way to earn back as several providers offer discounts for doing so.
  • Customer loyalty: Multi-policy, multi-car and other opportunities are generally available as loyalty discounts for drivers to take advantage of.

The best discounts you can get with any company always revolve around customer loyalty discounts. These include multi-car and multi-policy discounts. Though every company may not offer the most affordable premiums for your car insurance, combining loyalty and other discounts may provide you large savings on your final rate.

Bankrate utilizes Quadrant Information Services to analyze 2021 rates for all ZIP codes and carriers in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Quoted rates are based on a 40-year-old male and female driver with a clean driving record, good credit and the following full coverage limits:

  • $300,000 bodily injury liability per accident
  • $50,000 property damage liability per accident
  • $100,000 uninsured motorist bodily injury per person
  • $300,000 uninsured motorist bodily injury per accident
  • $500 collision deductible
  • $500 comprehensive deductible

To determine minimum coverage limits, Bankrate used minimum coverages that meet each state’s requirements. Our base profile drivers own a 2019 Toyota Camry, commute five days a week and drive 12,000 miles annually.

These are sample rates and should only be used for comparative purposes.
