Oil-rich nations dominate the list of the world’s wealthiest countries, as measured by Global Finance. The magazine’s ranking uses per capita gross domestic product (GDP): the value of goods and services produced annually by an average person in each country. Global Finance also considers something called “purchasing power parity,” which takes exchange rates into account when comparing the prices of goods from one country with another.
