The IHG Rewards Club is the loyalty program for the International Hotel Group family of hotels, which includes brands like Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts and the trendy Hotel Indigo family of boutique hotels.

The IHG Rewards Club Dining program is an offshoot of the IHG Rewards Club. It’s important to know about this program to maximize your IHG Rewards points even when you’re not on the road and staying at IHG properties.

What restaurants that participate in IHG Rewards Club Dining?

Finding a restaurant is easy. The IHG Rewards Club Dining search engine lets you enter parameters, including the type of cuisine or the distance from a specific city and state or zip code.
Many of the restaurants on the list are mid-priced or local establishments, although you’ll also find some fast food places and chain restaurants, like Johnny Rockets. The variety of local restaurants on the list makes it “rewarding” to try something new when you’re on vacation. It’s also great if your favorite hometown watering hole happens to be on the list.

How do you earn points with IHG Rewards Club Dining?

You earn points when you dine at any of more than 10,000 restaurants, bars, and clubs across the world and pay with your linked credit or debit card. Even taxes and tips count toward your rewards earnings, as long as you leave the tip on your linked card instead of in cash.
Basic members earn 1 point per dollar. Select members earn 5, and VIP members earn 8 points for every dollar.

IHG Rewards Club Dining tiers are not related to IHG Rewards Club Elite status, which you earn through hotel stays, using IHG Rewards Club credit cards, or making select purchases.

IHG Rewards Club Dining does not specify how to move up through the tiers.

How much are points worth?

The average valuation of IHG Rewards Club points is 0.5 cents, according to The Points Guy. But this number factors in higher-value hotel stays, where every dollar is worth 10 points. IHG Rewards Club Dining points, which max out at 8X every dollar, would have a slightly lower average valuation since you’d need to spend more to collect enough points for a free hotel stay.

Earn bonus points now

IHG Rewards Club Dining has a generous sign-up bonus going on until March 31, 2019. Simply spend $30 or more in one trip at a participating restaurant within the first 30 days of signing up and use your linked card to pay. Then leave a review on the IHG Rewards Club Dining site within 30 days of your visit to earn 1,000 bonus points.

How and where can you redeem your rewards?

Your IHG Rewards Club Dining points go directly in your IHG Rewards Club, so you can redeem them for hotel stays, airline travel, luxury experiences, gift cards, merchandise, and even charitable donations. Redeem online, through the IHG Rewards Club app, or by phone with your favorite IHG hotel property.

How do you set up your account?

You can be a member of IHG Rewards Club without joining the dining program. But if you want to join IHG Rewards Club Dining, you must first be a member of IHG Rewards.

Signing up is easy on the IHG Rewards Club Dining website. You will need your IHG Rewards Club member number to join, as well as a credit or debit card of your choice. Membership is free. You’ll earn points when you pay with the card linked to your account.

Do points expire?

As with other IHG Rewards Club points, your IHG Rewards Club Dining points may expire if you don’t accrue or redeem points within a 12-month period. It’s important to keep your account active if you want to use those points in the future.
