Citibank is the retail banking group of Citigroup and it offers savings accounts.

You can find a top-tier rate offered by the big bank on its online-only savings account in select markets; however, not all of Citi’s savings accounts offer a payout that pops. What rate savers will earn depends on their balance and their relationship with the bank.

In banking with Citi, you can also enjoy the bank’s 24/7 phone support and a mobile banking app experience that stands out from some competitors.

Citibank earned a 4.1 out of 5 in Bankrate’s overall rating of the bank.

How Citigroup savings rates compare to top-yielding banks

Citi’s Accelerate Savings account is in the upper echelon when it comes to yields. While there are some banks that offer higher yields, you’ll be close enough to the top that it probably isn’t worth changing to a new bank. However, it’s only available in select markets.

For Citi Savings, you can find all kinds of accounts that pay higher yields. UFB Direct, CFG Community Bank and DollarSavingsDirect are among the banks offering some of the highest rates.

Other savings options at Citibank

If you live in states where Citi’s Accelerate Savings account is available, it’s probably the best saving option you’ll find at the bank. You can open an interest-bearing checking account, but the rate is close to zero. The bank also offers CDs; however, most of the CDs have a rate lower than the  bank’s high-yield savings account.
