Headquartered in Winston Salem, North Carolina, Branch Banking and Trust Company (BB&T) is a Federal Deposit Insurance Corp-insured bank offering home mortgage loans and a number of personal and business banking services, including certificates of deposit. BB&T recently merged with SunTrust to form Truist; for now, though, BB&T’s CD terms are offered separately.

For customers in certain Midwest, South, and East Coast states, BB&T is a solid one-stop-banking option, with CD account terms ranging from seven days to 60 months and a full array of savings options. How BB&T compares to top-yielding banks

BB&T scores high points for customer satisfaction and its mobile app. Other banks offer more competitive rates on their CDs, though. Ally Bank currently offers a 0.55 percent APY on a one year CD, with a minimum deposit of $500, for example.

BB&T offers other savings account options as well. Its eSavings account, available exclusively online, is its most popular savings product; there are no minimum balances or monthly fees, and you’ll get unlimited deposits, withdrawals and transfers at BB&T branches and ATMs. BB&T also offers a tiered High Performance Money Market Account with a minimum deposit of $1,000 and a tiered Investor’s Deposit Account for those who can invest a minimum of $10,000.
