How Mark Harmon’s net worth was built

Mark Harmon’s net worth is estimated to be $40 million. From June 2014 to June 2015, he made $20 million due in large part to his lead role on the top-rated TV show “NCIS.” That makes him one of the highest-paid television stars. Harmon also earns residual income from reruns of “NCIS” that often air on channels other than CBS.

Acting hasn’t always been Harmon’s main moneymaker. He worked briefly as a shoe salesman and a carpenter before he got his break in acting. He has other talents, too. The son of a former Heisman Trophy winner, Harmon took naturally to football. He was UCLA’s starting quarterback during the 1972 and ’73 seasons and received the National Collegiate Football Foundation Award for All Around Excellence.

Harmon aimed to go to medical school after graduation, but after meeting TV legend Ozzie Nelson, he landed a walk-on role on “Ozzie’s Girls” in 1973. His acting career took off from there. He earned an Emmy nomination for his role on the TV movie “Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years.” After appearances on “The West Wing” and a role on military drama “JAG,” he landed the lead role on the “JAG” spinoff, “NCIS.” Harmon has also appeared in ads and has guest starred on a number of series.
