In April of 2017, Raisman teamed up with Life is Good to design a line of t-shirts to help empower women through kindness, optimism, courage, and authenticity.
Raisman faced criticism early in 2017 for posing topless during the photoshoot for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Raisman told several media outlets that she had no apologies for posing topless. Raisman stated that she did the issue because she “loves her body,” and said the shoot would teach young girls to embrace their bodies.
At the age of 22, Raisman was the oldest member of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics US women’s gymnastics team.
Raisman’s first Olympic experience was as a member of the 2012 London Summer Olympics team. In London, Raisman and her teammates took the team gold medal, which was the first Olympic gold medal for US women’s gymnastics since 1996.
