CD rates for Sept. 5, 2013

I'm Greg McBride, senior financial analyst with Bankrate.com, and here is your weekly look at yields on certificates of deposit.

The average four-year CD yield inched higher, back to 0.62 percent, reversing last week's decline. The average four-year CD yield has fluctuated between 0.61 percent and 0.62 percent since mid-May. The average five-year CD yield ticked lower to 0.78 percent. Similarly, the average five-year CD yield has fluctuated between 0.77 percent and 0.79 percent since late April.

With yields on longer-term CDs rangebound and short-term CDs holding steady, clearly we're seeing no real progress on deposit yields.

Nevertheless, to find the best yields on all CD maturities, as well as other savings instruments, go to Bankrate.com.
