CD rates for Sept. 5, 2013


I'm Greg McBride, senior financial analyst with, and here is your weekly look at yields on certificates of deposit.

The average four-year CD yield inched higher, back to 0.62 percent, reversing last week's decline. The average four-year CD yield has fluctuated between 0.61 percent and 0.62 percent since mid-May. The average five-year CD yield ticked lower to 0.78 percent. Similarly, the average five-year CD yield has fluctuated between 0.77 percent and 0.79 percent since late April.

With yields on longer-term CDs rangebound and short-term CDs holding steady, clearly we're seeing no real progress on deposit yields.
