Rates on certificates of deposit were mostly unchanged in this week's survey, save for the one-year jumbo CD yield, which is down 1 basis point to 0.33 percent. A basis point is one-hundredth of 1 percentage point.
A deposit of $100,000 won't buy very much extra yield these days. The difference between the jumbo and traditional one-year CD is a mere 2 basis points. The average one-year CD yield is unchanged at 0.31 percent.
The average five-year CD yield is also unchanged at 1.03 percent.
The average five-year jumbo CD yield is 1.04 percent for the second week.
The average money market account yield is 0.12 percent for the eighth week.
