Rates on certificates of deposit were mostly flat this week.
The average one-year CD yield stayed put at 0.31 percent. The average yield for a five-year CD also remained planted at 1.09 percent. A basis point is one-hundredth of 1 percentage point.
The average one-year jumbo CD yield also was unchanged at 0.34 percent. Only the five-year jumbo yield broke ranks, dropping another basis point to 1.1 percent. Banks offer jumbo CDs for deposits of $100,000.
The average money market account yield is 0.12 percent for the third week.
