CD rate averages for March 26, 2009

Here's a look at the state of interest rates on five common consumer banking products and the latest rates from Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large banks and thrifts conducted March 25, 2009.

CDs

Yields: 1.35 percent (1-year CD yield); 2.26 percent (5-year CD yield)

Average CD yields dropped this week in the Bankrate.com survey. The average one-year CD yield dropped 2 basis points from last week to 1.35 percent. For the five-year, the average yield fell 1 basis point to 2.26 percent.

Jumbos also dipped, with the average one-year yield dropping 1 basis point to 1.47 percent. The five-year also lost 1 basis point to come in at 2.3 percent.

This week the average yield for money market accounts slipped 1 basis point to .48 percent.
