Mortgage rates slipped slightly in this week's rate survey.
The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage fell again, down 2 basis points from last week to 3.89 percent. A basis point is one-hundredth of 1 percent.
The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage is down 1 basis point to 3.16 percent. The average rate for a 30-year jumbo mortgage, generally those of more than $417,000, is 4.48 percent for the second consecutive week.
The 5/1 adjustable-rate mortgage fell 3 basis points to 2.97 percent. A 5/1 ARM features a fixed rate for five years and adjusts every year thereafter.
