Credit card rates remained steady this week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate, or APR, for variable-rate credit cards was 14.49 percent. The fixed rate didn't move from 13.81 percent, where it has stayed for the last five weeks.
On Tuesday, Discover announced its bonus rewards categories for the second quarter. Cardholders can earn 5 percent back on restaurant and movie purchases, up to $1,500, until the end of June. For the month of May, Discover cardholders also get 5 percent back on groceries, up to $300. In general, rewards credit cardholders should look out for rotating spending categories that offer extra earning potential to maximize their rewards.
