National auto loan rates for June 21, 2012

  • 4.47% (60-month, new car)
  • 5.12% (36-month, used car)

Auto loan rates were unchanged across the board this week.

The average rate for a 48-month new-car loan was flat at 4.32 percent, while the 60-month new-car loan cruised at 4.47 percent.

Used-car loan rates were also unchanged, with the average rate for a 36-month used-car loan holding steady at 5.12 percent.

Asian automakers are still outperforming their domestic counterparts, according to J.D. Power's annual initial quality survey. Lexus ranked first in the survey, with Jaguar and Porsche tied for second and General Motors’ luxury brand, Cadillac, coming in third. GM had its best showing ever in the survey, with Cadillac, GMC and Chevrolet scoring better than the industry average in terms of reported problems.
