American Express

American Express is the biggest credit card issuer in the world in terms of purchase volume. Best known for its credit card brand, American Express offers a wide range of solutions for credit card holders, including flexible payment cards with no annual fee and high-limit premium rewards cards.

Headquartered in New York City, American Express has a strong global presence with more than 58,000 employees in more than 130 countries and 87 million credit cards in circulation.

Fast payments

American Express was the first credit card issuer to implement a nationwide "contactless card" with its Blue Card in 2005. Designed to make card payments faster, this type of transaction has become routine at many purchase points, including fast food restaurants and gas stations.

Rewards programs

Customers enjoy several perks using an American Express card, such as hotel points with the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card and the Membership Rewards program, offered with the American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card.

Personal banking

American Express also has two financial institutions for personal banking, American Express Bank, FSB (a thrift) and American Express Centurion Bank. High-yield savings account members enjoy the benefits of no fees, no minimum balance requirements and online account access. American Express certificates of deposit are available in a variety of terms.
