Amica

Employing more than 3,000 people in offices throughout the country, Amica is the oldest automobile mutual insurer in the nation. Amica, or Automobile Mutual Insurance Company of America, was established in 1907 by A.T. Vigneron, a businessman from Rhode Island. Seeing that automobiles were quickly changing the American landscape, Vigneron recognized the need for insurance and quickly began to seek out policyholders. As the American economy grew, so did the need for a wider range of insurance coverage. Amica began working with the Factory Mutual Liability Insurance Company of America in 1921 and later merged with them 1973. Because of its status as a mutual company, Amica has always been focused on pleasing its policyholders. Expanding coverage with homeowners insurance in the 1950s, the company would also soon adopt marine and personal umbrella liability insurance options. Today, Amica has several subsidiaries, including the Amica Life Insurance Company, Amica Property and Casualty Company and the Amica General Agency.

Amica corporate headquarters is in Lincoln, R.I. Currently rated by A.M. Best as a superior company with an A++ rating, Amica offers a wide range of insurance solutions.
