Ted Danson tapping into big profit

"Cheers" star Ted Danson and actress wife Mary Steenburgen bought their Cape Cod style oceanfront Malibu home for $4 million just a couple of years ago.

Now, they're offering the property, which has 3,500 square feet, five bedrooms, sun deck and new kitchen, for $9.8 million. Danson, who reportedly likes to tap dance in his spare time, will be doing a jig if he gets his price.

The couple, who married in 1995, first rented the two-story house in August 2000 before purchasing it.

Steenburgen then supervised an extensive renovation and refurbishing of the home, built in 1930. It has a room with a media system, a large, updated kitchen, and an oceanfront master suite with a fireplace and a sun deck.

Danson, 55, stars in the CBS series "Becker." But he's most famous for his role as the incorrigible skirt-chaser Sam Malone in the popular NBC sitcom "Cheers" for which he won two Emmy awards. Steenburgen, 50, co-starred with Danson in the two-part CBS miniseries "Living with the Dead." They also co-starred in the miniseries "Gulliver's Travels" and in the movie "Pontiac Moon."

They also have owned a home in Martha's Vineyard, Mass.
