National home equity loan rates

Here's a look at the state of home equity rates from Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large banks and thrifts conducted Feb. 24, 2010.

Home Equity

Rate: 5.75 percent (line of credit); 7.69 percent (loan)

Rates on home equity products fell this week.

The average home equity line of credit, or HELOC, slipped 2 basis points, to 5.75 percent.

Meanwhile, home equity loan rates sank 8 basis points, to 7.69 percent. Loan rates are now at their lowest levels since April 2008.
