I'm Lucas Wysocki with your weekly look at credit card rates. Both fixed and variable rate cards showed no movement this week. The average interest rate on a variable rate credit card came in at 14.85 percent. And this week's survey of fixed rate cards had the average sitting at 14.02 percent.
In a recent survey by myFICO.com, two-thirds of American's expect to cut back on their holiday shopping this year, but an alarming 1 in 4 expect paying off their Christmas expenses will take more than 3 months. Only 1 in 5 said they would consider opening a new credit card during the holiday season. If you happen to be that one in five, make sure you're shopping around for the best interest rate.
