Credit card rates were unchanged this week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate, or APR, for variable-rate credit cards stayed at 14.56 percent. The fixed rate remained at 13.71 percent, where it has been for 10 straight weeks.
On Sunday, a group of hackers known as Anonymous claimed to have infiltrated the computer systems of security analysis firm Stratfor and stolen data on thousands of credit cards and other personal information belonging to the firm's clients, The Associated Press says. One hacker said the goal was to donate to charities, using the poached credit card information. Several victims have confirmed unauthorized donations.
