Credit card rates didn't budge this week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate, or APR, for variable-rate credit cards stayed steady at 14.46 percent while the fixed rate remained at 13.71 percent.
This week, Discover did away with its foreign currency fee when cardholders use their cards abroad. The company had charged 2 percent of every foreign transaction. Issuers assess this fee when the transaction involves a foreign bank, including purchases, balance transfers or cash advances. Chase, Citibank and American Express eliminated their fees this year on some of their credit cards, while Capital One has had a long-standing policy of no foreign currency fees.
