Here's a look at the state of home equity rates from Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large banks and thrifts conducted March 30, 2011.

Loans backed by home equity saw little movement in the last week.

Home equity loans averaged 6.99 percent in the latest Bankrate survey, down 1 basis point compared to 7 percent one week earlier.

The typical home equity line of credit, or HELOC, averaged 5.57 percent, a gain of 1 basis point from the previous week. A basis point is one-hundredth of 1 percentage point.
