Here's a look at the state of home equity rates from Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large banks and thrifts conducted July 28, 2010.

Rates on home equity products split this week

The average home equity line of credit, or HELOC, remained unchanged at 5.54 percent.

Meanwhile, home equity loan rates fell 5 basis points, to 7.22 percent. That's the lowest rate since October 2005.
