Credit Cards
- 13.36% (all fixed)
- 14.4% (all variable)
The average APR for variable-rate credit cards slipped to 14.4 percent from 14.42 percent, where it had stayed for five straight weeks, according to Bankrate's latest survey. The fixed rate remained steady at 13.36 percent. It has been unchanged all year.
A study released Monday from Acxiom, a marketing services and technology company, showed that more than three-fourths of dedicated credit card users would consider changing their payment method for better rewards. Almost two in five would make the switch for lower or no fees. The study surveyed almost 3,000 households about their preferred payment methods -- credit card, debit card, paper checks or cash -- and the motivating factors that would cause them to switch their means of paying.
