Credit Cards

  • 13.74% (all fixed)
  • 14.39% (all variable)

Here's a look at the state of credit card rates from Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large banks and thrifts conducted June 30, 2010.

Following 14 weeks of stagnation, the average interest rate on all fixed-rate credit cards increased 4 basis points to 13.74 percent. Variable rates, which have crept higher throughout 2009 and 2010, averaged 14.39 percent for the second consecutive week. Michigan State University Credit Union is no longer offering fixed-rate classic cards, so one card was dropped from our survey.

Today marked the deadline for new formatting requirements for credit card billing statements. The Bankrate feature, "10 changes to your credit card statement," explains what to expect from your new credit card bill.

Bankrate.com makes it easier to find low-rate credit cards and credit cards with rewards. You can search by issuer, card type or credit score.
