One of the best buys in the produce section this month is Chilean grapes, says James Parker, global produce and facility team leader for Whole Foods Market.
One of the country's largest grape-growing areas comes into full production in mid-January, he says. As those grapes arrive in U.S. stores in February, that inventory will lower the price by about a third, Parker estimates. The biggest savings will be on the smallest grapes, which take less time to ripen.
Blueberries from South America are a good buy in February, Parker says. Like last month, the berries are in season in the Southern Hemisphere. U.S. shoppers can expect to see larger packages for the same price rather than a discount, he says.
