
You could snag a bargain on flowers in February, if you time it right.
After Valentine's Day, you can likely snag a deal on a host of potted plants that were brought in specifically for the holiday, says P. Allen Smith, author of "Living in the Garden Home" and host of "P. Allen Smith Gardens."
Look for blooming azaleas and potted tulips at less than half-price the day after Valentine's Day, he says. "Anything in the nursery related to Valentine's Day would go on sale immediately."
Want roses for the house, not the holiday? "There is a pretty dramatic difference in price for a dozen roses" on Feb. 15 as compared to Feb. 14, he says.
