Career Makeover: Char Winckowski

Experience

Char Winckowski is a licensed Realtor in Ohio and Michigan. She previously worked as an employee assistance counselor and as a program/recreational therapist at a local hospital.

Career goals

Regarding her career goals, Char is extremely flexible. Her goal is any position where she can help people and use her experience and master's degree in education -- and still pay her bills.

Obstacles

Char's career goal has always been to help people, and in recent years, she was helping buyers find their dream homes. With home sales down in her area of northwest Ohio, she misses being compensated for her hard work and is finding her lifestyle adversely affected by the decrease in income.

Profile: Char Winckowski is a licensed Realtor in Ohio and Michigan.

The problem: She misses being compensated for her hard work and is finding her lifestyle adversely affected by the decrease in income.

The plan: Char should build on her people skills, making connections and gathering leads for her new career path.

Although she continues to pursue real estate sales, Char has expanded her job search to other industries.

Some of the industries she's considering include health care, senior living, sales, the gaming industry and education.

The plan

Char is open to relocating to find a new job and has already submitted her resume for many positions. She's also taken the initiative to look into fields related to her current position as a licensed Realtor.

A plus is that she is flexible and ready to make changes to find a job. Often, job seekers become paralyzed by being afraid to make a decision out of fear that it will be the wrong one. Char has not let anxiety about her current situation stop her from investigating new career options.
