Chevrolet has made great strides with its quality in recent years, so it's no surprise it was tops with owners surveyed for market research firm AutoPacific's 2009 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards. Seating up to nine, the Chevrolet Tahoe comes in three trim levels currently, while a fourth trim level, the fuel-efficient XFE, will come later in the 2010 model year. The Tahoe is available in two- or four-wheel-drive and is powered by a 320- horsepower, 5.3-liter V-8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with the heavy-duty trailer package, it can tow up to 8,400 pounds. Features include a third-row bench seat for three passengers, rear parking sensors, rear-seat DVD entertainment, side-curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control with rollover sensors. While Ford's midsize SUV was one of the first entries in the segment, it still ranks well with consumers for its quality. Rating high in market research firm AutoPacific's 2009 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards, the Explorer seats up to seven when equipped with the optional, fold-flat third row. As a five-seater, the Explorer has a generous amount of cargo space (45.1 cubic feet) compared to much of its competition. A choice of a 210- horsepower, 4.0-liter V6 or a 292-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8 are offered. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows and door locks, side-impact and side-curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control and a crash alert system that unlocks the doors, sounds the horn and turns on the flashers if the airbags deploy.
