MPG: 30 city/41 highway
Volkswagen Jetta TDI
While diesel engines had a lousy reputation years ago, diesel technology has improved to give it top-notch fuel efficiency and keep it environmentally friendly. Volkswagen's Jetta TDI is powered by a 140-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged, direct-injected, or TDI, four-cylinder that gets an EPA-estimated 30 city/41 highway mpg. The Jetta TDI seats five comfortably with sufficient trunk space, while a 60/40-split folding rear seat also features a center pass-through to increase cargo carrying flexibility. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows and locks, power heated mirrors, cruise control, heated front seats, side-impact and side curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability and traction control.
