MPG: 48 city/45 highway
Toyota Prius
The Toyota Prius has become somewhat of an icon for hybrid cars and, thanks to certain celebrities; many people may view you as a "greenie" if you own one. But whether you drive a Prius for its environmental-friendliness or its great fuel economy, you are likely to enjoy it. Powered by an electric motor paired with a 1.8-liter gasoline engine the Prius produces the equivalent of 134 horsepower, making for a peppy drive, while still getting an EPA-estimated 48 city/45 highway mpg. Standard features include tilt/telescopic steering wheel with audio and climate controls, plus knee, side-impact and side curtain airbags, active front head restraints, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability and traction control.
