5 new technologies for the connected car

Self-parking cars

Ford unveiled a Ford Edge Concept car that features several technologies that build on current features available in today's cars.

For example, the Edge Concept comes with a fully assisted parking aid, which builds on the active park-assist technology available in some Fords today. The fully assisted system lets drivers park their cars at the touch of a button or by remote control from outside the car.

The system can find a perpendicular parking space using ultrasonic sensors and park the car by itself. Because the system can be activated from outside the vehicle, the car's occupants can exit the car before it is parked, allowing the car to park in a tighter parking spot than is common today.
