Kia SedonaIIHS Top Safety Pick

Both the short- and long-wheelbase versions of the Kia Sedona fared well in crash tests. In tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, both versions of the Sedona received five stars for all front and side impact tests and a four-star rollover rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it a Top Safety Pick and rated it the highest rank of "good" in its front and side impact tests for both wheelbases. Standard safety features include front and side-impact airbags for front seat occupants, side-curtain airbags for all three rows, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability and traction control. Honda OdysseyIIHS Top Safety Pick

Honda has built its Odyssey minivan with safety in mind, and it shows. Recognized as a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the group rated it "good," the highest rank, in front-, side- and rear-impact tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also rated it five stars in all front- and side-impact tests and gave it a four-star rollover rating. Volkswagen Routan5 stars for front and side impact

Introduced as a 2009 model, the Volkswagen Routan scores well in crash tests. This cousin to the Chrysler Town & Country and its Dodge Grand Caravan sibling received five stars for all front- and side-impact tests and a four-star rollover rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated it "good," its highest score, in both front- and side-impact tests, though it received a "marginal" rating in rear-impact tests.
