The Mitsubishi basic car warranty is good for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Both original owners and subsequent owners receive the same type of warranty. If you're the type of driver who would sell your car after three or four years, the fact that the next owner could still take advantage of the new-vehicle limited warranty could make the Mitsubishi stand out against potential used-car competition.
Mitsubishi also offers a 10-year 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. However, if you sell the car, the new owner won't receive the balance of the 10-year 100,000-mile coverage. The new owner would receive the balance of the new-vehicle limited warranty -- the original five-year 60,000-mile contract.
The manufacturer does have two major warranty programs, which follow the car regardless of the owner. There is the seven-year 100,000-mile anticorrosion/perforation warranty to protect against rust through sheet metal. And, Mitsubishi also offers roadside assistance for five years with unlimited miles. Both warranties cover original and subsequent owners.
Popular Mitsubishi models include the Lancer, named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS.
