The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has ordered Bank of America to pay nearly $800 million in refunds to customers after the bank allegedly used deceptive billing and marketing practices, according to a report in The New York Times.

Customers were "illegally charged" for credit monitoring and reporting services that weren't received, the CFPB said. In addition to issuing refunds, Bank of America has to pay a $20 million fine to the CFPB and another $25 million to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
