Homes you can buy for about $5 million

Aspen, Colo.
  • Price: $4.5 million

This 12-year-old townhouse is in Aspen Highlands Village, a ski resort community.

One big draw: Walk right out the front door to the lifts and spend a day on the slopes. "It's literally within 50 steps of the chair lifts," says Ben Roos, broker associate with Aspen Snowmass Sotheby's International Realty.

The mountain-style home "is on multiple levels, but it flows really well," Roos says. While the master suite "has terrific views out across the village," the great room looks onto the lifts, he says.

The architects used large windows to make the most of the views, Roos says. The other "benefit is that you get great light," he adds.

It also has a lot of the extras you might expect in a $5 million home. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, and the master bath has a steam shower and spa tub. The house has three stone fireplaces and also features hardwood floors, exposed trusses and recessed lighting throughout.

Then there are the toys: a game room with a wet bar and fireplace, a patio with a private hot tub, and an elevator.

The home is a short walk to shopping, galleries and restaurants in the village, says Roos. "It's a neat spot."
