On the river, literally, in a floating house
Want the comforts of home with the joys of living on the water? If so, a floating house just might be your dream home.
This two-bedroom, two-bath floating house on Portland's Hayden Island was built in 2001 and renovated "down to the studs" in 2011, says Karla Divine, principal broker with Divine NW Realty.
With an open floor plan "completely full of windows," the 2,200-square-foot house with engineered birch flooring and recessed lighting throughout has views of the harbor, the Columbia River and Mount Hood, she says.
The kitchen has stainless steel Miele appliances, dark green marble countertops and an adjacent marble breakfast bar, Divine says. A separate dining room features a large picture window.
The sleek, black-and-white master bathroom spotlights a handcrafted mosaic behind the freestanding porcelain tub. The bathroom also has a separate glass shower, black marble counters, and white Carrara marble floors, she says. The floors in both bathrooms are heated, she adds.
A monthly $270 fee covers water, sewer, garbage and common-area maintenance, she says.
Want to enjoy the great outdoors? The home also has a 1,400-square-foot deck -- and two slips to accommodate a 40-foot and a 60-foot boat, Divine says.
