  • 13.81% (all fixed)
  • 14.49% (all variable)

Credit card rates again didn't move this week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate, or APR, for variable-rate credit cards remained at 14.49 percent for the fifth straight week. The fixed APR stayed steady at 13.81 percent, the same level since the first week of March.

The results of a study released this month by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority's Investor Education Foundation found that women pay higher interest rates on average on their credit cards compared to men. The difference doesn't disappear with financial education, either.

However, female cardholders with low financial literacy are more likely to engage in two or more negative payment behaviors than their male counterparts. Both sexes with high financial literacy make two or more negative payment behaviors at the same rate, the study found.
