Credit card rates were unchanged this week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate, or APR, for variable-rate credit cards stayed steady at 14.49 percent. The fixed APR remained at 13.81 percent, where it has been since the first week of March.
Hawaii is suing seven major banks and credit card issuers over so-called slamming practices. The lawsuit describes how cardholders were billed for products they didn't request or that didn't provide the promised benefits. The state is seeking up to $10,000 per violation against Bank of America, Barclays, Capital One, Chase, Citibank, Discover and HSBC.
