Credit Cards
- 13.81% (all fixed)
- 14.5% (all variable)
Credit card rates remained unchanged this week, according to Bankrate's latest survey of interest rates. The average annual percentage rate, or APR, for variable-rate credit cards stayed steady at 14.5 percent. The fixed APR didn't move from 13.81 percent, where it has been since the first week of March.
The Federal Reserve said Monday that credit card debt increased in May by the biggest month-over-month gain since November 2007. Revolving balances added another $8 billion to $870.2 billion in May over April. The jump coincides with a slide in consumer confidence and a slowdown in job growth.
