Citi joins more major credit card issuers paying special attention to travel perks, rewards and travel booking portals. In early Q4 2022, Citi will be launching a brand-new portal, Citi Travel with Booking.com.

By using the new site — which will replace the existing Citi ThankYou Travel Center — eligible Citi cardholders will have access to more than 1.4 million hotel and resort options, plus competitive pricing for flights, hotels, car rentals and attractions.

What are the benefits of Citi Travel?

Citi cardholders can book travel accommodations through Citi Travel with credits cards, ThankYou Points or a combination of the two. Eligible cardholders can also earn ThankYou points when booking travel through the portal. ThankYou points can be redeemed across 180+ partners with brands like BP, Shell, Amoco, CVS, Choice Hotels and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

Another trend we’re seeing credit card travel portals incorporate is a travel search engine feature. Citi’s new travel portal will allow eligible Citi cardholders to compare hotel, air, and car rental options to both book and plan travel accommodations. Citi’s new travel portal will also offer cardmembers access to 24/7 customer support, in case they need help with the booking and travel process.

Which credit cards will offer access to Citi Travel?

The following Citi cards will offer access to Citi Travel, along with an additional 10X or 5X points on bookings in the portal (when it launches in early Q4) through Dec. 31, 2023:

Card Points for Citi Travel Portal bookings
Citi Premier® Card 10X points
Citi Prestige® Card* 10X points
Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card* 5X points
Citi Rewards+® Card 5X points

Note, the Citi Prestige and ThankYou Preferred are no longer available to new applicants, so you must be a current cardholder to access this limited-time offer.

The bottom line

The timing of Citi’s new travel portal syncs perfectly with the upcoming holiday travel season. Whether you’ve got a Citi credit card or will soon get one, the new Citi Travel portal could help you plan and book your accommodations more efficiently, and with the opportunity to earn rewards.
