| In its car lineup, there's not much
new for 2005.Demand continues to outstrip production of
the four-door hybrid Prius, which was restyled last year. Because of manufacturing
cost issues, Toyota is unlikely to flood dealer showrooms with more of them, so
expect to pay at or above sticker prices that average about $24,000. Fans
of the MR2
Spyder two-seat convertible and the sporty Celica need to act quickly because
both models are going away after 2005. The 4Runner SUV gets
a significant horsepower boost when equipped with the 4.7-liter V8, which is now
rated at 270 horsepower, up from 235. A five-speed automatic transmission replaces
the four-speed version. The full-sized Sequoia
SUV gets revised exterior styling and in that model the 4.7-liter V8 makes
282 horsepower.
The compact Tacoma
pickup line has been expanded and restyled for 2005. Buyers
can now choose from 18 body and performance configurations, with
prices starting at about $14,000. The full-sized Tundra pickup gains
the more powerful 282-horsepower, 4.7-liter V8.
