How Britney Spears’ net worth was built

Britney Spears made her nationwide singing debut in 1992 on the competition show “Star Search.” She didn’t win, but she did land a role on Disney’s “The All-New Mickey Mouse Club” later that year, alongside Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.

After leaving the Disney show, Spears focused on building her music career. In 1998, she released her first single “Baby One More Time,” which launched her to superstardom by selling over 500,000 copies in its first day. Since then, she has released nine studio albums, most of which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts.

Spears has also starred in movies, appeared on TV shows and designed her own clothing line. She even returned to a competition show as a judge for “The X-Factor.” She has sold more than 150 million records worldwide in a career that has spanned more than two decades, earning her a net worth of $215 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

What she’s up to now

Spears took up residency in Las Vegas in 2013 to perform her show “Britney: Piece of Me” at Planet Hollywood. Her Vegas stint is set to end Dec. 31, 2017, but her publicist has said the star is in talks with Caesars Entertainment and other parties in Vegas, hinting that her stay there could be extended.

Spears’ popular show includes all her chart-topping hits and some new songs from her latest album, “Glory,” released in August 2016. The show garnered her several awards at Best of Las Vegas 2017, including Best Resident Performer and Best Production Show. She’s confirmed that she’s already working on her 10th studio album.

Accolades

Spears started racking up awards in 1999 when she won Billboard Awards in the categories of New Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Female Albums Artist of the Year and Female Singles Albums of the Year. Since then she’s won countless awards, including American Music Awards, MTV Music Awards, Kids’ Choice Awards, People’s Choice Awards and a Grammy Award in 2005 for Best Dance Recording with “Toxic.”

Perhaps her most impressive feats are the multiple world records she’s set over the years, such as best-selling teenage artist and youngest female artist to have six No. 1 albums.
